Why Local Honey?

All raw honey will give you health benefits, but only LOCAL honey will teach your body to fight local allergens. What does local mean? Local honey is that produced in the same bloom area as the one in which you live—where the same plants are blooming at the same time.

Broad Spectrum

We often refer to our honey as "broad spectrum" because we prefer to harvest only after the bees have combined the pollen and nectar they've collected all season. This means you are exposed to all of the pollens that are in your area for the entire season. You get the best allergy fighting benefit in this way—and great multi-dimensional taste as well!

Raw Pollen

In addition to our local honey, we also sell local raw pollen. We do not dry our pollen and instead keep it refrigerated as soon as we harvest it from the hive. To get the best allergy benefit from pollen, begin by consuming one grain a day and monitor any reactions you might have. It is very rare, but possible, to be allergic to bee pollen if you have very severe allergies. Over time, you can slowly work up to one teaspoon a day. It is important to only take pollen in daily increments for pollen season. This usually means you should start daily ingestion in February to build up concentration in your system.  While you can eat pollen at other times (it is a great protein supplement), it is not a good idea to eat daily year round. It is possible to build up a sensitivity that can cause adverse reactions if pollen is overused. If you prefer to stick with honey, you can take at least a teaspoonful daily, year round in anything that is not going to be baked or actively boiled. For instance, you can add it to a cup of tea after it has been boiled, but do not add it to actively boiling water. Honey will not build up in your system in the way that pollen can.
